Climate

The climate of Korea is characterized by four distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. September is late summer in Korea. The average temperature range in early September is between 25 degrees to 32 degrees Celsius.

Currency and Credit Cards

Korea`s official monetary unit is the WON (?). The Korean currency consists of the fifty thousand, ten thousand, five thousand, and one thousand won note, and the five hundred, one hundred, fifty and ten won coin. Foreign currency and traveler¡¯s check can be converted into Korean won at foreign exchange banks and other authorized money exchangers. The exchange rate is subject to market fluctuations. 1 USD is approximately equivalent to 1,100 won as of May 2011. Credit cards are accepted at major hotels, department stores, and restaurants.

Public Transportation

- Subway There are excellent subway train systems in Korea. The subway is the most efficient and convenient way for travelers to get around the city. Station names, tickets windows and transfer signs are all clearly marked in English.
- Taxis Taxis are plentiful, clean, safe and inexpensive in Korea. There are taxi stands in most busy city areas and taxis can also be hailed on the streets. The fare is based on both distance and time.
- Intercity Buses Korea has an extensive intercity bus system connecting almost every city and town. Since most of bus signs are written in Hangeul (the Korean alphabet), finding the right bus can be confusing for the first time. Fares can be paid as you board with cash or a transportation card.

Electricity

The standard voltage in the Korea is 220 volts AC, 60 Hz with a round two-pin plug (same as in Germany or France). If your appliance plug has a different shape, you may need a plug adapter.
