1. In the July 2003 issue of the APLMF Circular 42, SPRING Singapore shared its plans on the review of the “Singapore Weights and Measures Programme and its Future Directions”.

2. On 27 December 2005, the Singapore Weights and Measures Act and the Weights and Measures Regulations were gazetted and came into force on 1 January 2006. SPRING is designating private sector companies as Authorised Verifiers to take on the verification and stamping of weighing and measuring instruments for trade use on behalf of SPRING.

3. Singapore, as host of the 13th APLMF Meeting, wishes to share with APLMF members on the Singapore Authorised Verifier Scheme (AV Scheme).

4. We are having a seminar on the AV Scheme following the APLMF meeting on 17 November 2006 at 2.00 pm at the Furama’s Ballroom. The main highlights of the seminar are:

• Video on the Weights and Measures Programme
• The Singapore AV Scheme
• The Benefits of the AV Scheme to Authorised Verifiers
• The Benefits of the AV Scheme to users of instruments.
