Terms of Reference

BACKGROUND
The Sub-Working Group on Digitalization in Metrology (SWG-DM) under the Working Group on Metrological Control Systems (WG-MCS) was established at the inaugural meeting during the 30th APLMF Forum meetings held in Bohol, Philippines in 2023 to address the growing importance of IT and digitalization in legal metrology.
SCOPE
The Working Group on SWG-DM covers the knowledge, activities and requirements for digitalization including the software used for measuring instruments.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives include facilitating the exchange of information on digitalization in metrology among APLMF members, identifying the needs and challenges faced by the Asia-Pacific region regarding digitalization in the field of metrology, providing support for issues related to software used in measuring instruments, conducting training and workshops on digitalization in metrology, and collaborating closely with other relevant APLMF/APMP groups to ensure a coordinated approach to digitalization in metrology.

TARGETED OUTCOMES
  • ​Sharing information with metrology organizations worldwide
  • Conduct survey within the Asia Pacific region
  • Provide events on software and digitalization (training, workshops, seminars)
  • Provide guidelines / guide documents on software and digitalization
  • Provide opinions from the Asia Pacific region to international organizations
  • Adopt a harmonized infrastructure for digitalization in metrology
  • Set up a regional uniform digitalization system/infrastructure in the Asia Pacific region
