Who We Are

In November 1994, the Asia-Pacific Legal Metrology Forum (APLMF) was established with 14 member economies from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) region, and they were: Australia, Canada, People's Republic of China, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and USA.
As one of the regional organizations working in close liaison with the OIML, the APLMF promotes communication and interaction among the legal metrology organizations and seeks harmonization of legal metrology in the Asia-Pacific region. In January 2002, Japan succeeded Australia and assumed the presidency and the secretariat until 2009, when it was passed to China. New Zealand succeeded China in 2015 as the 4th economy to hold the positions of president and secretariat in the APLMF since establishment. |

Executive Committee at February 2021
The Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the delegated objectives of the Forum and comprises:
a) the President;
b) the immediate past President;
c) three Members from three separate Member economies;
d) the Training Coordinator; and
e) the Secretariat.

APLMF Secretariat
The Secretariat provides the administrative hub to support the work of APLMF, including maintaining the website, coordinating registrations for training and forums and keeping members informed of topical issues.
The transfer of the Secretariat from New Zealand to Malaysia was formalised at the 27th APLMF Online Meeting and Malaysia took up the role from 1 January 2021.
